Red Headed Woodpecker

He's a very striking bird, especially when he flies as he has large white patches on his wings. The first time I saw him this year was May 1oth. I watched him closely and on May 12th I noted that he was hiding seeds for future use and then he got on a dead tree and started hammering on the tree and calling. I presume that this is the action he would take to attract a mate. Sure enough, the following day a second Red Headed Woodpecker showed up. I'm hoping they'll stay for the summer.
